The National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future (NCTAF) was founded in 1994 to ensure that every child has access to quality teaching in schools organized for success. In partnership with national, state, and local education agencies, NCTAF develops prototypes for innovative teacher preparation, collaborative teaching teams, and strategies to leverage community engagement, sharing the impact of these programs with those who influence education l l egislation and policy.
Our school has a NCTAF team of seven teachers, 15 percent of our teaching staff (48), representing all grade levels and content areas, guiding students in the research and examination of climate change and how personal lifestyle choices affect the environment. This team benefits from extensive professional development with NASA scientists and other researchers numerous times over the school year and during summer design sessions. (2012-2015)
